No Logos
The above image comes from a Ping Mag report on Sao Paolo banning all exterior advertising
in a crackdown on graffiti. I'm not sure how I feel about
this. First, is there a causal relationship between outdoor
advertising and graffiti? Second, is graffiti that bad? I
hate tags as much as the next non-gangbanger, but I love street art
like this (if you live in Chelsea like I do, it helps make the
neighbourhood):
I'm trying to picture New York without any ads - and i'm not sure if I like it (although they could drop the giant billboard by the Gansevoort Hotel).
It reminds me of an airbrushed photo I saw in a gallery in Toronto a
few years back: the artist had photoshopped out all the brands and
logos from the image.
(On an aside, my iWeb spellchecker doesn't pick up "photoshopped" as a misspelled word)
